United Way Welcomes Ben Wood to Board

My name is Ben Wood.  I first came to Montcalm County in 1984 when my father took a job at Federal Mogul as an Engineer.  I am proud to be an alum of Greenville High School and Western Michigan University, where I majored in Sales and Business Marketing and minored in Management.  I am currently employed by The Right Place and Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center-West as a Business Development Specialist.  I am responsible for setting up and facilitating training for manufacturing organizations in Ionia, Montcalm, Mecosta, Osceola, Northern Kent, Muskegon, Lake, Newaygo, Oceana and Mason Counties.

Living in Montcalm County has proven to be the perfect fit for my family as well as my job.  Growing up in Greenville, I have a sense of comfort and have many connections that tend to make “life” a lot easier.  My wife and I have no intentions of leaving Greenville.  We plan to continue to watch our children grow and become successful leaders while teaching them the values of faith, family, friends and business.

Over the past 6 years I have been heavily involved in coaching through the Greenville Recreational Center, Greenville Little League and Greenville Rocket Football.  I really enjoy teaching the basics of sports to the little kids.  My theory is to make it a fun experience while learning.

I assisted my wife while she served on the Danish Festival Board where she was in charge of the Raffle drawing for 2 years.

I also participate in Project 314 through Calvary Baptist Church.  We help elderly or widowed individuals with home improvement projects such as power washing the house/deck, fix broken items like stairs or railings, and lawn maintenance.

Thank you for the opportunity to learn, develop, and grow Montcalm and Ionia Counties through the United Way program.  I am looking forward to the next 2 years and the opportunity to be part of an organization that is bigger than myself.

Respectfully,

Ben Wood
