United Way Welcomes Lt. Rob Davis To Board

Lt. Rob Davis

As a twenty-three year veteran with the Michigan State Police, I have had the unique opportunity of working in varied locations with diverse populations. I served for seven years as both a uniform trooper and detective trooper in the cities Benton Harbor / St. Joseph. It was during this assignment that I observed firsthand the devastating effects poverty can have on a community.

I was promoted as a uniform sergeant to Niles, where I worked for three years before transferring to Grand Rapids as a detective sergeant. I spent ten years as a regional detective sergeant and had the fortune to be involved in some of the largest and unique investigations in West Michigan.

I currently serve as the Assistant Post Command for the Lakeview Post, which covers the large geographical area of Gratiot, Ionia, and Montcalm Counties. Our 50 or so troopers handle nearly 10,000 criminal complaints a year in addition to their traffic and community service duties; it’s a very busy worksite.

Prior to entering the department, I attended Michigan State University where I earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. My wife Martha and I live in Ada with our 3 children, ages 20, 18, and 14.   I look forward to serving on the board and hope to make a meaningful contribution.
