United Way Montcalm-Ionia Counties Funded Partners

The  annual  community  investment  process  at  United  Way Montcalm-Ionia  (UWMI)  Counties  for 2017  supported 23  local  programs.    The Community   Investment   Committees   and   the   United   Way Board    of    Directors    made awards   to   agencies  that   address   the   needs   of   children, families   and   the   community, and focus on education, income  and  health,  the  building  blocks for a good future. The Michigan 4-H Youth mission and vision statements are "To crate nonformal, educational opportunities to help youth thrive in a complex and changing world while mobilizing volunteers and communities to help meet the needs of those youth." Through 4-H experiences that are youth oriented and adult supported, connected to the research of the Land Grant University and supported by certified volunteers grounded in the principles of positive youth development, these young people develop the skills and assets needed to be successful today and in the future.

The mission of the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired is to advance the independence of people with blindness or visual impairment and help prevent vision loss through services and education. Serving Montcalm and Ionia Counties, this organization advances the independence of the visually impaired through low vision exams, rehabilitiation training, counseling and support groups; promotes blindness prevention; and offers testing for glaucoma.

  IM Kids 3rd Meal

IM Kids 3rd Meal is a community driven, not-for-profit, kids feeding program. Entirely volunteer based, our goal is to provide ‘3rd Meal’ sack dinners to food insecure elementary students within Ionia and Montcalm Counties. The 2014 school year began our pilot phase, as we successfully provided ‘3rd Meals’ to over 380 students at two different elementary schools from April to June.
