About Chris

My family on my mother’s side has been in Montcalm County for generations.  My father’s family as well, to a lesser extent.  I graduated from Central Montcalm High School.    After high school I enlisted in the US Army and served 4 years active duty and 2 years with the National Guard.  I hold a BA in Public Administration from Western Michigan University.  I have been with the state police for over 20 years.  During my career I worked as a road trooper, SWAT team member, fugitive team member and was on staff at our academy for three years.  Since coming to the Lakeview Post, I have served a squad sergeant, detective sergeant and am currently a lieutenant.  I’m now the assistant post commander at the Lakeview Post, which covers Gratiot, Ionia and Montcalm Counties.  I live with wife and children in northern Ionia County.  My wife is in a similar field and works in Montcalm County as a Children’s Protective Services Supervisor.
